GMTC By-Laws --
There are no provisions to join GMTC, such as no membership fees, no
performance standards, and you do not have to attend our organized practices
(although, our organized practices would be beneficial).
Are meet fees are covered by club funds at our meets, but there is a
provision to obtain this benefit. Our funds are fundraised over the summer
prior to the cross country and track & field seasons. Fundraisers
require
voluntary help by our club members, therefore, any club member that have
assisted with a fundraiser is automatically covered by GMTC for meet fees.
The same benefit can be extended to new members and/or those who were unable
to assist with the fundraisers, but here's the criteria that must be met for
this benefit...
Provide a $25 deposit each for both cross country and track & field.
If you
race at least 3 GMTC sponsored cross country meets, you will receive your
deposit back at the end of the cross country season. If you race less than
3 meets, you will only receive back the amount equivalent to the cost of the
meet(s) you've ran. For example, a meet may be $10 per individual, and if
you race 1 meet, you will receive $10 back at the end of the season. The
same rule applies for track & field, except you must compete in at least 5
GMTC sponsored track & field meets, then you will receive your deposit back
at the end of the outdoor season. Note, if you compete in at least 5 meets
during the indoor season, then you would receive your deposit back by the
end of indoor season versus waiting until the end of the whole season.
You can opt to pay your own meet fees for the first 3 cc meets and/or first
5 track meets versus putting down a $25 deposit. Once you exceed the
amount
of meets required, then you would receive back whatever you paid.
This rule is implemented only to protect the fundraising efforts of our
club, and the members who assisted in the fundraisers. GMTC wants to
prevent anyone from randomly taking advantage of our paid meets benefit by
requesting to race a meet using our funds, and either not showing up to the
meet, or competing in a meet and then disappearing from the club afterwards.
GMTC's goal is to be a vehicle to adults who wish to continue
participation in cross country and track & field without any monetary
profit, but the only thing GMTC does ask of you to help keep our club
functioning is your representation.
Meet Announcements --
Though most of our information is on our website, meet registration
announcements are sent via e-mail to every member about a week prior to the
meet. However, I will not include anyone on the announcement list who I
haven't heard from in a while. Therefore, especially if I don't see you at
our practices, I am asking you to at least contact me once a month to inform
me that you're still interested in competing in our meets, thus would like
to continue receiving our meet announcements.
Any further questions, please contact me...
Thanks,
Ken
